Buckhannon-Upshur posted their closest victory since March 16, 2024 on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Bridgeport Indians 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.

Becca Pastorius made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Pastorius was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Madi Knabenshue and Kristine Frye did most of the damage at the plate: Knabenshue scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Frye scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Frye has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Spratt, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Buckhannon-Upshur kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Buckhannon-Upshur's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Bridgeport, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckhannon-Upshur will face off against Lewis County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buccaneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Minutemen have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Bridgeport, they will head out to face off against East Fairmont at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bees will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
