Basketball Recap: Lakewood Lancers vs. Buckeye Valley Barons
Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Sunday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 44-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buckeye Valley Barons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lancers of the 62-50 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2018.
It was another big night for Ella Hazelrigg, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds for Buckeye Valley. The contest was Hazelrigg's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Makayla (Mak) Bertke was another key player, scoring four points plus five rebounds and two steals.
Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Buckeye Valley, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
