Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Maroons vs. Riverton Hawks

The Clinton Maroons will head out on the road to challenge the Riverton Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Clinton is headed into Saturday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. The match between them and Monticello didn't end well, with Clinton falling 47-32. The contest marked the Maroons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Riverton lost to Central A & M at home by a 56-38 margin on Saturday. The Hawks were down 52-29 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Riverton's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Clinton, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-5.

Clinton took their win against Riverton in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 55-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clinton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
