Basketball Game Preview: Somerset Berkley Regional Raiders vs. New Bedford Whalers

The Somerset Berkley Regional Raiders will square off against the New Bedford Whalers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Somerset Berkley Regional is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Bourne on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Somerset Berkley Regional took a blow against Bourne, falling 70-41. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-16.

Despite the defeat, Somerset Berkley Regional had strong showings from Sarah Costa, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds, and Grace Kayata, who posted four points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for New Bedford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They strolled past Falmouth with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 49-31.

Somerset Berkley Regional now has a losing record at 2-3. As for New Bedford, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Somerset Berkley Regional beat New Bedford 63-54 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Somerset Berkley Regional since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
