Basketball Recap: Fort Frye's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Thursday

Fort Frye won the last time they faced Warren and things went their way on Thursday too. The Fort Frye Cadets strolled past the Warren Warriors with points to spare, taking the game 54-36. Given the Cadets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Warriors are ranked 130th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mackenzie James-McGuire, who posted ten points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Murray, who went 5 for 6 en route to 11 points.

Fort Frye pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points per game. As for Warren, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Fort Frye will face off against Waterford at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Waterford will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Fort Frye surely won't give up without a fight. Warren has already played their next game (against Point Pleasant), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
