Recap: Wilby Wildcats vs. Crosby Bulldogs

This season hasn't been kind to The Wilby Wildcats, who are still winless after their sixth match. They took a 28-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crosby. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wilby in their matchups with Crosby: they've now lost three in a row.

Leading Crosby to victory were Steve Dunbar and Will Rogers. Dunbar rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, while Rogers rushed for 161 yards on only 15 carries.

Wilby's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-0 Oxford (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.3% over those games). As for Crosby, their win bumped their record up to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilby will square off against Holy Cross at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Holy Cross knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Wilby likes a good challenge. As for Crosby, they will head out on the road to face off against Oxford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oxford is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
