Volleyball Recap: Laney Swan and Elyse Ballengee Secure Win for Liberty Christian + How To Watch

Liberty Christian had won three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 8-5 to make it four. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Rustburg Red Devils. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Red Devils, too.

Leading Liberty Christian to victory were Elyse Ballengee and Laney Swan. Ballengee had 15 assists and five aces, while Swan had 17 digs. Those 17 digs gave Swan a new career-high. Margaret Bollig also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Liberty Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in seven consecutive matches.

As for Rustburg, their loss ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since October 24, 2024.

Despite the loss, Rustburg saw an underclassman step up: freshman Peyton Lowes had ten digs.

Liberty Christian has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Brookville on the 25th. As for Rustburg, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Jefferson Forest on the 25th.
