Volleyball Recap: Waynesville Starts Season with Win Against Wilmington + How To Watch

Waynesville took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Wilmington Hurricane. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hurricane, too.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-8, 25-17.

Waynesville can attribute much of their success to Abby Buck, who had 13 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Buck a new career-high.

Buck wasn't the only good server: Waynesville was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Wilmington's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Waynesville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Monroe on the 21st. As for Wilmington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Eaton on the 19th.
