Softball Recap: East Noble Drops Highest Score of Season Against West Noble

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Noble). They never let the West Noble Chargers get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won seven in a row.

Paige Griggs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, East Noble let Bri Bortner and Aubrey Helmkamp run wild. Bortner got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Helmkamp went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Bortner is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaye Ritchie, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

East Noble's victory bumped their record up to 15-6-1. As for West Noble, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Noble will welcome Bellmont at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Braves will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Noble, they will take on Fremont at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
