Volleyball Recap: Northwestern's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Northwestern dropped down to 13-6 on Tuesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the St. Croix Falls Saints by a score of 3-2. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Saints from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Shelby Hessel paced Northwestern's offense, picking up 18 kills. Hessel got some help from Finley Peterson and her 30 assists. Peterson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

As for St. Croix Falls, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since August 30th.

St. Croix Falls can attribute much of their success to Faith Allram, who had 16 digs and five assists.

Northwestern and St. Croix Falls should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Tigers (ranked 103rd) will meet Cumberland (ranked 391st) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, St. Croix Falls will square off against Hayward at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (121 vs. 247).
