Baseball Recap: Hughes Comes Up Short

Hughes extended their losing streak to 13 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-14 in the process. They came up short against the Perry County Vikings, falling 18-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-3 last Wednesday.

As for Perry County, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

For Perry County's part, the team relied heavily on Jake Mercer, who went 4-for-5 with four runs and three RBI. Those four runs gave Mercer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryder Sellers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

As of now, neither Hughes nor Perry County have any future games scheduled.
