Baseball Game Preview: Laurel Bulldogs vs. Dickinson Rams

The Laurel Bulldogs will challenge the Dickinson Rams at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Dickinson took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Laurel, who comes in off a win.

Laurel's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Seaford. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Bluejays: they've now won eight in a row.

The team relied heavily on Tristen Johnson, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Matt Givens, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Dickinson fell victim to Red Lion Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 18-0. The Rams have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Laurel's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Dickinson, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Laurel's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Bulldogs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Dickinson, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Laurel continue to outrun the ball?
