Baseball Recap: Watervliet Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Watervliet had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Sparta Spartans. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cael Morris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Watervliet let Brayden Harasewicz and Caleb Jewell run wild. Harasewicz went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs, while Jewell went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave Harasewicz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathan Harasewicz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Watervliet kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Watervliet's record is now 16-6-1. As for Sparta, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-14.

Watervliet will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair will be back at it again later today.
