Softball Recap: Naperville Central Victorious

Naperville Central proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 11) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Waubonsie Valley Warriors 6-4. Surprisingly, this marked the Redhawks' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Shea Meech spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Riley Silvers, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cali Lenz, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Naperville Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Naperville Central now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Waubonsie Valley, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10.
