Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Viewmont's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Viewmont ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Northridge Knights 36-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted against the Knights since January 18, 2022.

Viewmont had a senior duo take command as Callie Peterson almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds and Mary Carr dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Peterson continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Sophie Gold was another key player, putting up two points.

Despite the loss, Northridge had strong showings from Karlee Mayfield, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 15 boards, and Izabel Kap, who posted 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Kap is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 12 games she's played.

Viewmont has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Northridge, they dropped their record down to 8-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Viewmont didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-20 victory against Bonneville on the 12th. As for Northridge, they have also already played their next matchup, a 53-41 loss against Woods Cross on the 12th.
