Basketball Game Preview: Bayside Bears vs. Melbourne Bulldogs

Bayside is 2-8 against Melbourne since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bayside Bears will challenge the Melbourne Bulldogs. One thing working in Bayside's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.

Bayside is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Heritage by a score of 84-72 on Friday. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Panthers are ranked 608th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Melbourne humbled Brevard Christian with an 85-38 victory. The game marked the Bulldogs' most dominant victory of the season.

Melbourne has also been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.1 points per game. As for Bayside, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4.

Bayside came up short against Melbourne in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 62-54. Can Bayside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
