Basketball Recap: Santa Fe Catholic Takes a Loss

Santa Fe Catholic came up into this matchup off a tough 48-point loss back in December of 2024. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes by a score of 42-39 on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-18 back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Santa Fe Catholic still got an impressive performance from Sasha Lawson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. Angelina Rodriguez was another key player, putting up eight points along with nine boards and five steals.

Bishop McLaughlin Catholic found their leader in sophomore Marley Weaver, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Castelli, who had seven points.

Santa Fe Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Santa Fe Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 34-20 victory against Oasis Christian on the 9th. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 41-31 win against Academy at the Lakes on the 8th.
