Basketball Recap: Arabia Mountain Rams vs. Decatur Bulldogs

The Arabia Mountain Rams entered their tilt with the Decatur Bulldogs with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Arabia Mountain strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 56-40. Given Arabia Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Arabia Mountain got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shanya Heath out in front who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Heath is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 19 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charmaine Owens, who scored 15 points along with seven steals.

Decatur's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ta'lor Owens, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Owens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nadiya Mohamed, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

Arabia Mountain pushed their record up to 20-2 with that victory, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Decatur, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arabia Mountain will take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Decatur, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
