Softball Game Preview: Madison-Grant Argylls vs. Greenfield-Central Cougars

The Madison-Grant Argylls will head out on the road to square off against the Greenfield-Central Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenfield-Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Madison-Grant, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Madison-Grant made easy work of Marion and carried off a 12-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Argylls in their matchups with the Giants: they've now won eight in a row.

McKenna Craig tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Demie Havens was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Cayleigh Stitt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Madison-Grant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marion only posted an OBP of .318.

Meanwhile, Greenfield-Central came up short against Franklin Central on Thursday and fell 15-10.

Greenfield-Central got a massive performance out of Leilani Forshey, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Savvanna Riall, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Madison-Grant pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Greenfield-Central, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Madison-Grant might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Greenfield-Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Argylls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
