Basketball Game Preview: West Salem Titans vs. Sprague Olympians

The West Salem Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Sprague Olympians at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

West Salem took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past South Salem 73-71. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted since December 21, 2024.

Meanwhile, Sprague waltzed into their match on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They enjoyed a cozy 67-49 victory over the Vikings. Given the Olympians' advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Vikings are ranked 110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sprague's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points over those games. As for West Salem, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Things could have been worse for West Salem, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 75-58 loss to Sprague in their previous meeting back in January. Can West Salem avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
