Baseball Game Preview: Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars vs. Weston Trojans

Kolbe-Cathedral hasn't had much luck against Weston recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Trojans at 4:15 p.m. Kolbe-Cathedral is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.7 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Kolbe-Cathedral came up short against Bunnell and fell 6-3. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Kolbe-Cathedral saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Miguel Colon, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Colon is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Joey Mingolello was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Weston fell victim to New Fairfield and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Rebels, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Trojans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Weston's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Kolbe-Cathedral, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Kolbe-Cathedral suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Weston when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
