League recap: Oscar Smith tops Bayside to extend winning streak

6A Conference 2 recap November 19, 2013

Oscar Smith added to the longest winning streak in 6A Conference 2 this week by beating Bayside, 35-0. The win marks 11th in a row for the the Tigers.

Oscar Smith took down the Marlins 35-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Western Branch's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. TJ Boothe threw for 22 yards and Sergio Gardner had 10 yards receiving. On the ground Mondryl Glover contributed 192 yards. Sydney Wellons helped Western Branch's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 12 yards.

The Bruins' dynamic duo of Boothe and Gardner proved tough for Cox to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wellons helped Western Branch's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 12 yards.

Glover was a passing and rushing force as Western Branch beat the Falcons. Glover's favorite target this week was Gardner, who caught 2 passes for 10 yards.

Grassfield's Brett Smith and Vincent Lowe led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Smith has thrown for 1,025 yards this season, while Lowe has 15 catches for 310 yards. Greg Gibson's team's Glover leads the league in rushing yards with 1,527.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Richard Morgan's team takes on the Grizzlies. As it stands, the Tigers are in first, while Grassfield is in third.

Marty Asprey's team and Tallwood played the most contested game in 6A Conference 2 this week, with Marty Asprey's team eventually emerging with a 28-22 victory.
