Baseball Recap: Huntington Beach Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Huntington Beach came out on top against Newport Harbor on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Oilers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Sailors. The Oilers haven't had any issues with the Sailors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Otto Espinoza tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Huntington Beach saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jared Grindlinger, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Grindlinger a new career-high.

Huntington Beach's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.43 runs across that stretch. As for Newport Harbor, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 17-6 record.

Huntington Beach will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Sailors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
