Basketball Recap: Mt. Vernon Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Trevor Mcclure and Cale Maurer

Mt. Vernon has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 49-34 bruising from the Centralia Orphans on Friday. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-32 last Saturday.

Despite the loss, Mt. Vernon had strong showings from Cale Maurer, who posted six points and ten rebounds, and Trevor Mcclure, who scored nine points.

Mt. Vernon's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 13-7. As for Centralia, their victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3.

Mt. Vernon has already played their next match (against McCracken County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Centralia has already played their next contest, a 49-45 win against Waltonville on the 1st.
