Baseball Recap: Bradford Comes Up Short

If Bradford was feeling good fresh off their 7-1 takedown of Hamilton County last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bradford Tornadoes took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave on Friday. The Tornadoes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Wave apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Taylor Bice stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Kaedan Parks also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Bice wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Bradford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for Bradford: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 8.8.

Bradford's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for P.K. Yonge, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Bradford wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-3 loss against Baker County on the 11th. As for P.K. Yonge, they have also already played their next matchup, a 22-0 win against Ocala Christian on the 11th.
