Baseball Recap: York Has No Trouble Against Aurora

After only two runs in their last matchup, York made sure to put some runs up on the board against Aurora on Friday. York put the hurt on Aurora with a sharp 20-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Dukes, who have now won three contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Thomas Bonde made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Bonde was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Ashtyn Demuth and Carsen Pieper did most of the damage at the plate: Demuth scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Pieper scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Demuth also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Eli Nething, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

York's record now sits at 3-1. As for Aurora, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

York wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-6 victory against Fairbury on the 29th. Aurora has also already played their next match (against St. Paul/Palmer), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
