Basketball Recap: Unioto Drops Season-High Score on Southeastern

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Unioto). They blew past the Southeastern Panthers, posting an 88-49 win. The Shermans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Unioto was led to victory by Milee Smith and Mya Hamilton. Smith almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds, while Hamilton went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and six boards. Those 28 points gave Hamilton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Magnolia Holbert, who posted 11 points along with six assists and five boards.

Unioto was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Unioto pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Southeastern, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Unioto will challenge Westfall at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Unioto knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Westfall likes a good challenge. Southeastern has already played their next game (against Piketon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
