Basketball Recap: Yorktown Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Yorktown won against Greenfield-Central last Tuesday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Yorktown Tigers walked away with a 57-46 win over the New Palestine Dragons. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers who have now won four matchups in a row.

Yorktown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexis Fields, who went 6 of 13 en route to 15 points. Lilly Sylvester was another key player, putting up 11 points and six rebounds.

New Palestine lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kylee Beranek, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. What's more, Beranek also racked up four steals, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sadey Hughbanks, who posted 13 points.

Yorktown pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for New Palestine, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Yorktown and New Palestine should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. Yorktown (ranked 80th) will meet New Castle (ranked 264th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Yorktown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season. Similarly, New Palestine will square off against Greenwood at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday up 166 places (126 vs. 292).
