Basketball Recap: Pinole Valley Gets the Win

After losing to Vallejo the last time they met, Pinole Valley decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pinole Valley Spartans escaped with a win on Tuesday against the Vallejo Redhawks by the margin of a single free throw, 61-60.

Jaylin Reed was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordin Broas-Jew, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 15 points.

Pinole Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Pinole Valley's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Vallejo, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-19.

Pinole Valley will head out on the road to face off against St. Patrick-St. Vincent at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pinole Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully St. Patrick-St. Vincent likes a good challenge. Vallejo has already played their next game (against Bethel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
