The Providence Panthers will face off against the South Mecklenburg Sabres at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Providence hadn't beaten Butler on the road since May 5, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. Providence blew past Butler 13-3. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won three contests in a row.

Averie Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 11 hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, Emerson McAllister was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Camryn O'Connor, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Mecklenburg). Everything went their way against Palisades on Tuesday as South Mecklenburg made off with a 20-2 victory. The Sabres haven't had any issues with the Pumas recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Sofia Vayo tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.
At the plate, South Mecklenburg got a massive performance out of Madison Norris, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Rivas, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
South Mecklenburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .559. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Providence's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for South Mecklenburg, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Providence took their victory against South Mecklenburg in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2. Does Providence have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Mecklenburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
