Basketball Game Preview: Washington Blue Lions vs. Waverly Tigers

The Washington Blue Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Waverly Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Washington came up short against Miami Trace and fell 50-43. While losing is never fun, the Blue Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 446th, while the Panthers are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, Waverly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They fell 53-46 to Wheelersburg.

Washington has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Waverly, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.

Washington didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Waverly in their previous matchup back in January of 2019, but they still walked away with a 50-44 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Washington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
