Basketball Recap: Jacksonville Takes a Loss

Jacksonville lost against Glenwood back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Jacksonville Crimsons received a blow as they fell 55-38 to the Glenwood Titans. While losing is never fun, the Crimsons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Titans are ranked 74th).

When it comes to explaining why Jacksonville lost, don't look at LaMarion Williams. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 12 en route to 14 points and six boards. Those 14 points gave Williams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy Defrates, who posted six points.

Jacksonville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Glenwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jacksonville will venture away from home to square off against Normal University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jacksonville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season. As for Glenwood, they will head out on the road to challenge MacArthur at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. MacArthur knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Glenwood likes a good challenge.
