Basketball Recap: Oasis Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Fenn Mackedon and Trevor Barrenchea

Oasis Academy played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Yerington Lions, falling 55-35. The defeat continues a trend for the Bighorns in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Oasis Academy had strong showings from Trevor Barrenchea, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, and Fenn Mackedon, who posted 14 points. That was a full 40% of Oasis Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Yerington was led to victory by Kenneth Picotte and Colby Rowe. Picotte dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards, while Rowe dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Yerington is 7-2 when Rowe posts eight or more boards, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Paxtyn Drake, who put up seven points and 12 rebounds.

Oasis Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Yerington, their record is now 10-6.

Oasis Academy will face off against Coral Academy of Science - Reno at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oasis Academy is facing Coral Academy of Science - Reno at the right time seeing as Coral Academy of Science - Reno is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Yerington, they will square off against West Wendover at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Wendover knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Yerington likes a good challenge.
