Basketball Recap: Southeast Halifax's Losing Streak Snapped at 12 Games

Southeast Halifax can bid farewell to their 12-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 55-48 victory over the North Edgecombe Warriors. The win was all the more spectacular given the Trojans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 591st, while the Warriors are ranked 265th).

Southeast Halifax's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was O'Tavion Arrington, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Arrington has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jamarian Webb, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points and five boards.

Southeast Halifax smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Southeast Halifax's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-16. As for North Edgecombe, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast Halifax and Northwest Halifax will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Southeast Halifax is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season. As for North Edgecombe, they and Wilson Prep will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Wilson Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.
