Softball Game Preview: Three Rivers Bulldogs vs. Premont Cowboys

For the second straight game, Three Rivers will face off against Premont. The Bulldogs will square off against the Cowboys on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Three Rivers has 12 straight wins, Premont has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Three Rivers is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Premont a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 21 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Alyson Gomez made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nayelli Longinos was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Sydney Ruiz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Three Rivers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .417 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Three Rivers' victory bumped their record up to 25-4-1. As for Premont, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
