Basketball Recap: Layton Christian Academy Gets the Win

Layton Christian Academy proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 39) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 43-40 win from a begrudging Eagles squad.

Ava Smith was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 10 en route to 18 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruby Knight-Paris, who posted ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Layton Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Centennial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Layton Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-29 win against Mater Academy East Las Vegas on the 21st. As for Centennial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-48 victory against Sierra Vista on the 21st.
