Baseball Recap: Dunkirk Takes a Loss

If Dunkirk was feeling good fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Olean on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Marauders came up short against the Hamburg Bulldogs on Saturday, falling 11-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Marauders of the 6-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Dunkirk saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Shaffer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That double marked the first that Shaffer has hit this season.

Dunkirk's loss dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Hamburg, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-6.

Dunkirk didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 win against Eden on the 19th. As for Hamburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Williamsville East on the 19th.
