Basketball Recap: McCluer South-Berkeley Takes a Loss

McCluer South-Berkeley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Soldan International Studies Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-44 back in December of 2024.

McCluer South-Berkeley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mustafa Taylor, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Taylor a new career-high in assists (four). Lamar Mccoy was another key player, going 6-for-8 en route to 18 points.

McCluer South-Berkeley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Soldan International Studies, they pushed their record up to 7-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, McCluer South-Berkeley and KIPP will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Soldan International Studies has already played their next match (against Vashon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
