Softball Recap: River Forest Ingots vs. Hammond Central Wolves
River Forest had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-10 to make it five. They fell just short of the Hammond Central Wolves by a score of 10-9. The Ingots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
D'Yanna Hurn was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mila Soto, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.
As for Hammond Central, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 1, 2024.
On Hammond Central's side, Haleigh Lynn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on one hit.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Forest will venture away from home to face off against Lake Station Edison at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hammond Central, they will challenge Hammond Morton at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
