Softball Recap: West Ranch Takes Down Cerritos in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but West Ranch had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They skirted past the Cerritos Dons 9-7. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on nine straight.

MADISON MEISTER was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. PAYTON BORLAND was another key player, getting two hits.

West Ranch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are 10-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

West Ranch's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-14. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Cerritos, they moved to 17-7 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, West Ranch will challenge St. Bonaventure at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Seraphs will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. Cerritos does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
