Basketball Game Preview: KIPP Legacy Lions vs. Herron Achaeans

The KIPP Legacy Lions will take on the Herron Achaeans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

KIPP Legacy took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Traders Point Christian as KIPP Legacy made off with a 72-52 victory. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Jahmere Evans continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 22 points. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Lauderdale, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Herron on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 58-37 margin over Victory College Prep. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Achaeans have posted since November 25, 2024.

Herron's win came from a few key players KIPP Legacy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cj Stephens, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 boards. He also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Herron is undefeated when he posts at least five steals, but 0-19 otherwise. Kevin Flannigan was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

KIPP Legacy's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Herron, their win ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-19.

KIPP Legacy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Herron in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 65-60 victory.
