Odem is 1-9 against Mathis since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Odem Owls will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mathis Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Odem is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

Aria Bray made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Angelina Hernandez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Marivel Martinez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Mathis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .760. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Oso only posted an OBP of .200.

Mathis is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. Odem's victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
