Basketball Recap: Brooklyn Owens Key Part of a Team Effort in Ricebirds Win

Stuttgart lost to Southside back in February of 2020, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Stuttgart Ricebirds managed a 56-51 win over the Southside Southerners. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Ricebirds.

Stuttgart's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brooklyn Owens led the charge by going 6 for 13 en route to 13 points and eight steals. The dominant performance gave Owens a new career-high in steals. Zaniya Colvin was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Stuttgart smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.

Stuttgart is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Southside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Stuttgart will head out on the road to take on Forrest City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forrest City will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Stuttgart surely won't give up without a fight. Southside has already played their next game (against Wynne), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
