Softball Recap: Avon Park Beats Sebring for Their Fourth Straight Win

Avon Park hadn't done well against Sebring recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Red Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Blue Streaks. The win was nothing new for the Red Devils as they're now sitting on four straight.

Paisley Macias spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kamya Brassell, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar Hicks, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Avon Park's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Sebring, they moved to 12-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Avon Park will head out on the road to square off against Lake Placid at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. Sebring does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
