Having struggled with five losses in a row, Braswell finally turned things around against Lewisville on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Farmers out 3-2.
Braswell took Lewisville into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-20, 26-28, 23-25, 15-9.
Jayla McDuffie was a one-man wrecking crew for Braswell as she had 22 digs and two aces. McDuffie is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiara McDuffie, who had 15 digs, three kills, and two aces.
Meanwhile, Marcus lost 3-0 to Hebron on Friday. The Marauders haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 25-15.
Braswell's victory bumped their record up to 13-20. As for Marcus, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-26.
Braswell beat Marcus 3-1 in their previous meeting back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for Braswell since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
