Baseball Game Preview: Shaler Area Titans vs. Mars Fightin' Planets

For the second straight game, Shaler Area will face off against Mars. The Titans will venture away from home to challenge the Fightin' Planets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shaler Area is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Mars' hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Shaler Area hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Titans didn't even let the Fightin' Planets on the board on Tuesday, marking the Titans' second-straight 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Colby Weber, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Mars off the board. Weber has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ben Yeckel was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

Shaler Area's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Mars, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10.
