Baseball Recap: California Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

California can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Brownsville Falcons. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 8-1 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Chase Shemansky looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of California's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 2-0-1 (and 4-9-1 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, California saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Weston, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Another was Chase Cicchitto, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

California's win bumped their record up to 6-9-2. As for Brownsville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. California will welcome Chartiers-Houston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Brownsville, they will be playing at home against Uniontown at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons are facing the Red Raiders at the right time seeing as the Red Raiders are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
