Basketball Game Preview: Morrill Lions vs. Garden County Eagles

The Morrill Lions will head out on the road to take on the Garden County Eagles on Friday. Morrill hasn't scored more than 17 points for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Morrill managed to slip by Hay Springs the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lions were outmatched by the Hawks and fell 63-16. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-9.

Patrick Owens was Morrill's leading scorer, having posted five points.

Meanwhile, Garden County suffered their biggest loss since January 28th on Tuesday. They took a blow against Kimball, falling 79-51. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Longhorns: they've now lost three in a row.

Having lost for the first time this season, Garden County fell to 2-1. As for Morrill, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Morrill didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Garden County in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 37-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
