Basketball Recap: Sugar Creek Charter Falls to Greater Cabarrus Athletic Association in First Game of Season

Sugar Creek Charter kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Greater Cabarrus Athletic Association Stallions by a score of 64-61. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Corde Harrison, who posted 16 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Sayvion Shaw was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Xavier DeLeeuw was a one-man wrecking crew For Greater Cabarrus Athletic Association. as he had 29 points and seven boards. Those 29 points gave DeLeeuw a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Patrick Oldham, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Sugar Creek Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 83-52 loss against SouthLake Christian Academy on the 10th. As for Greater Cabarrus Athletic Association, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-44 defeat against Westminster Catawba Christian on the 11th.
