Recap: Hammond Golden Bears vs. Oakland Mills Scorpions
The Hammond Golden Bears gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They snuck past Oakland Mills with a 55-51 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Hammond also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Hammond's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sara Yarnell, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nia Green, who scored 18 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 assists.
Hammond's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Oakland Mills, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Hammond will head out on the road to face off against Glenelg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oakland Mills, they will square off against Mt. Hebron at TBD on Friday.
